Second Shift Driver Manager

Position Description:

  • Provide on-site afterhours support for a fleet of drivers between the hours of 3:30pm until midnight
  • Log driver status updates as called in
  • Provide breakdown assistance and route to the proper parties
  • Ensure that accidents are appropriately documented and escalate when needed
  • Escalate all unresolvable issues to daytime Driver Managers or Management
  • Review dispatch schedules to determine where additional loads may be needed to increase weekly truck revenue and mileage
  • Communicate with planning personnel to obtain loads if needed to increase weekly truck revenue and mileage
  • Communicating to daytime Driver Managers about any occurrences as needed
  • Establish a good working relationship with drivers
  • Manage driver performance and escalate for disciplinary steps if necessary
  • Know, support, and enforce company policies
  • Manage service levels afterhours for 99.5% on time pickup and delivery
  • All other duties and projects as assigned


  • Computer based keyboard skills to include Microsoft Suite, Omnitracs and McLeod experience preferred
  • Knowledge of the transportation industry preferred
  • Ability to communicate well with others
  • Ability to transfer knowledge
  • Above average writing skills and organizational skills
  • Positive attitude
  • Ability to take direction from managers and detail oriented
  • Ability to solve problems and work in high pressure situations with little supervision
